Meet Sasha Exeter!

The innovation and creative process behind The Glow Up was nothing short of an adventure. Not only did we create a product that is different from our usual line-up of blends, but this was also our first time creating a product in collaboration with someone who inspires us—our wellness BFF, Sasha Exeter.

If you haven’t crossed paths with Sasha Exeter on social media before, she’s a former athlete turned content creator and entrepreneur who’s passionate about health and wellness, just like us! Our team sat down with Sasha to ask her about her wellness rituals, how she got to where she is today, and how The Glow Up came to be.

1. What brought you to becoming a content creator?

Over 10 years ago, I was bedridden with two undiagnosed autoimmune disorders. As I started healing and figuring out what was going on in my body, a family member encouraged me to start writing about my journey and that was when I decided to started blogging and creating content on my website. Once social media started expanding, it made sense to move my content creation onto those platforms as my community started growing and evolving organically there.

2. What’s something you think people would be surprised to learn about you?

I’m actually very shy and introverted.

3. Tell us the part of your daily wellness routine you’ll never skip.

Hydration!!

4. Who are you inspired by?

SO MANY PEOPLE! My number one source of inspiration is still my parents. That said, I can find inspiration in nearly anyone who has overcome challenges in their life. As a former athlete, I’m especially inspired by young BIPOC women like Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles. They’ve been incredibly successful in their sport and are also now making space for others to have open conversations about mental health challenges.

5. When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to come back to yourself?

Move my body or spend uninterrupted time with my daughter.

6. What first drew you to Blume?

Before I knew anything about Blume, I (like so many) was drawn to the incredible colours of the products in their lineup, which seamlessly ties into the beautiful branding. BUT it was by far the superfood ingredients that kept me coming back.

7. Describe your favourite part of the creation process of The Glow Up.

Going in-depth and learning about the different superfood ingredients we were choosing from along the way.

8. Taking care of yourself from the inside out was one of our main focuses for this project. How do you practice this day-to-day?

Living with chronic pain and diseases that are wholly invisible to an outside observer, this concept is at the core of who I am and the lifestyle I’ve designed for myself. The older I get the more I’m consciously thinking about every single thing I’m consuming and how it might affect my physical and mental health. This includes everything from food and drinks to stress and anxiety inducing media.

9. If you could give one piece of advice to your community, what would it be?

Put your own oxygen mask on first. It’s such a simple concept but so many people, especially women, have a hard time giving themselves the space to actually practice it. You are better able to serve your community when your own cup is filled up.
